The solution to Global Warming is consumers Must save energy. Who agrees with me?

The question is how do we save energy?

1) Keep the energy prices high which will force consumers to look at “the alternative”

2) Ride the Public Transportation.

3) Car Pool.

4) Banned Dryer Machine. We can all hang clothes.

5) Use recycles products.

6) Many more. It is the consumers causing the global warming. When i say consumers, I am talking about everybody. Consumers led businesses or corporate or politicians to produce earth killer products. Corporate maximizes profit by selling consumers their needs and wants. Or politicians give consumers their need and want to get their vote such as gas tax break (stupid idea). If we all learn how to save energy, we can all save the planet earth and corporate will be able to sell earth friendly products to achieve profits.

WE ARE SPOILED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saving energy is part of it – but if energy efficiency increases slower than population increases, we will still increase our overall energy consumption. In fact, it is doubtful by most measures that mere conservation will solve either our lust for energy or global warming.

It would help to switch power consumption to emission-less means (solar, wind, etc). It would also help to increase the so-called “Carbon sinks” that are our large forests.

Recycled goods (both recycling and purchasing recycled products) help to a point, but there is still a net energy loss.

You are correct to point out that mobile source emissions are a significant problem. While mass transit and carpooling are excellent approaches and are very feasible for many commuters in large metropolitan areas such as New York and Los Angeles, they are not as feasible to implement in areas where there are multiple business districts or where the population is much more spread out. Mass transit is so much more effective in many European cities of Medieval origin because the cities are densely built, which lends naturally to mass transit and creates higher costs for a private vehicle. However, most American cities are more spread out (urban sprawl, if you will), and, unless co-workers live near one another carpooling is not likely to happen. Also, for mass transit to be effective for a given commuter, it must be within walking distance of both the home and the destination.

The other, more radical, solution would be to force all persons to live within a certain distance of their workplace or within a certain distance of transit to their workplace – a solution no one is prepared to offer at this point.

In short, you point out some good means, but they can’t address the entirety of the problem, nor are they entirely effective. Good start, though.
