alternative energy research grad programs?

I am an undergrad in Chemistry right now looking for a top notch graduate (MSc terminal or direct to Phd) program in alternative energy research?
Which Universities, domestic or international, have the best and most recognized programs?

A friend of mine quit a product marketing management job at a major high tech company and went into the sustainable energy program. He got an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio School of Management in San Francisco.
