Having met during their first week at the University College London in 1996, front man Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland spent their entire first year planning a band, starting with the name Pectoralz, but settling on Coldplay years later with other band members Guy Berryman and Will Champion. Since their inception, the original band lineup has remained the same throughout the years, from their first EP Brothers and Sisters in 1999 to the release of their most recent studio album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends in 2008. Coldplay got their first taste of true mainstream success with their hit single “Yellow,” and have found continued success since.
