is Caspian Sea’s future doomed because of the discovery of gas in the region?

doesn’t all the realities that surrounds any region with a great strategic and economic importance, point to an inevitable environmental disaster?and isn’t this even more true in case of the Caspian Sea since it is only a lake and naturally very susceptible to pollution.

would the elites prefer to exploit it’s natural resources rather than eating the true beluga caviar. after all aren’t they the only ones who can afford it! well looks like they are assuring that by help farming it ie; in Iran?

as a result how many species are in danger of distinction? due to the unique nature of this large lake there are many unique species. ie; the only salt water sturgeon ! most likely it was a sea with sweet water at one time and slowly shrank to became a lake with saltier water therefor some species were able to slowly adapt to saltier water.

It’s one of the most scenic regions in the world. It’s all surrounded by the mountains and perhaps the most beautiful Rain Forest in the world.
Caspian sea or “Khazar” is a huge lake like you mentioned the largest in the world, that’s the reason they call it a “Sea”. It’s the home of the most delicious fish including the legendary White Fish and of course as you said the best Caviar in the world.

Originally it was divided between Iran and the old Soviet Union and the 2 countries shared all the resources including oil on 50-50 basis. But after USSR was divided many new countries emerged around the sea and that was the start of the some disastrous problems. Including serious large Scale pollutions, the rise of the sea level and high numbers of fish and other creatures dying.

Iran has been dealing with numerous problems in a very diplomatic manner by filing complains trough the International channels. Although I’m pro peace and diplomacy but I’m convinced that Iran should exercise it’s military options against these little corrupted and irresponsible countries and put a permanent band on oil exploration in the region.

Regards.
