Natural Gas Fixed Vs Variable?

Hi,

I will be soon moving to a new apartment and wondering about Natural gas connection.
I have two options

Variable Plan Variable None $0 $5.95 $1.548 per therm
Fixed Plan – 12 Month Fixed 12 months $25 $5.95 $1.508 per therm

Which do you suggest and why?

I’m not sure if this is what you’re talking about but it sounds like you have the option of either paying the bill amount for that time period or the same every month. If that’s the case, I like paying the bill when it comes–so I pay more in the winter because I use more but in the summer I pay less because I use less. Friends of mine prefer the other way where they pay a fixed amount every month because that way they don’t get hit with a higher amount in the winter. It all depends on how you pay your bills. I’m surprised that the variable per therm rate is higher than the fixed.
