What is the best battery…Lithium?

Alternate energy sources, be it wind, solar, or water, all have the same problem, storage before dissipation.

The answer has always been to build a better battery, but as usual corporates wait until its an emergency.

Is Lithium the best so far?
We have portable needs (vehicles) and stationary needs (building mechanicals & lights).

Not sure what you mean “corporates wait until its an emergency”??? Typically, any time a company develops a product that offers an improved profit margin, that company is going to market that product. That has been just as true for batteries as for anything else.

To your question… It depends on what you mean by “best”. In terms of reliability and life cycle cost and recyclability, it is hard to beat a lead acid storage battery and that has been true for about 100 years. The electrical storage requirements for wind/solar/etc power is much more complicated than just 12 volt high amp short duration power for starting an internal combustion engine. It is also much more complicated than providing 1.5 volt low amp long duration power for a flashlight bulb.

There are lots of potentials on the horizon. These include “air” batteries and high temperature liquid metal batteries and fuel cells and super capacitors and probably a whole lot of technologies that have not been mentioned in the popular media.
