Can I charge a battery starter with a solar panel?
Essentially, I have this:

When charged, I can use it to run my laptop for a little while, or charge my cell phone or whatever, but I’d like to be able to charge it via solar panel. The charger charges via a 12 volt plug, or a ciggarette lighter plug. Could I re-wire the plug to a 12 volt solar panel, and charge it that way? If so, I’m thinking about taking it camping.
Any ideas here? Am I better off going another route?
Interesting… I’ve found 6.5 watt panels and such, but how do I figure the charge time? It’s a 300 AMP battery, that’s all I really know. It takes about 1 hour to charge via a DC plug that says:
Input: 120 V AV 60Hz 9W
Output: 12VDC 500mA
So how would I figure charge time with a solar panel rated at, lets say, 6 watts, 12V?
As long as it’s 12 volts it will absolutely work, and it’s a great idea!
