A question about Solar Panels. Please help!?

I got a Freeloader Solar Charger( http://ivory.vnunet.com/images/hardware/solar-technology/solar-technology-freeloader/large.jpg ) a while back to help keep my mobile phones and mp3 players topped up. turns out it just isnt as effective as I had hoped. it takes hours of the small panels being in the sun to provide me with a little juice for ONE device of my choice. I want something more. I was thinking about a large solar panel for my bedroom window. Can anyone give me advice and how to do it?. I was thinking of this(but please correct me as I know it probably isnt the best and also tell me how I could do it)

A solar panel on my window connected to a larger battery(car battery perhaps) then have some kind of extention lead(kind of like this – http://www.homespare.com/pictures/thumb/2444LOOSE.jpg ) so that I could plug my chargers into.

Would that work? If so, how could I properly do it

a battery provides DC voltage. most electrical devices use AC voltage. to change DC to AC you need an inverter .

the problem with solar power is that you have to be able to store energy for use at night or cloudy days. batteries are the best way to do this, but it takes alot of them–too many, in fact to be very practical given current battery technology. in addition, there is nothing “green” about a battery. batteries are one of the most polluting devices on earth.
