Will fridge run on inverter?

We have bought a westinghouse 310 litre fridge. Can someone please tell me if it will run on a 3,600 watt inverter, which is connected to a bank of 12 2 volt batteries that are being powered by 2 wind turbines and two solar panels. We are not connected to the grid, and our house is quite small, so we don’t use that much electricity. All help appreciated. Thanks!

I am going to guess that your refrigerator draws about 800 Watt, it probably draws less but that is a fair assumption. That would make the starting, also known as inrush or surge 4800 Watt. Your 3600 Watt inverter probably has a surge rating close to that. You are cutting it close. I would not do it because refrigerator compressor motors are not designed to operate off of inverters. Motors designed to be operated with inverters have additional insulation to take the switching. In plain English your compressor motor is going to be short lived.
If you wish to get around the problem you will need to put an isolation transformer between the inverter and power supply. You should then be fine. URL is to a transformer which could be used.
