Will Senator Kennedy be forced to retire following this term and, if so, on what basis?

Senator Kennedy has led a checkered career, starting when he was kicked out of Harvard for cheating, then he murdered a young women by letting her drown in his car and didn’t report it until the next morning when she might have been saved if he had reported it before he sobered up.

He currently is fighting a wind energy installation because it may interfere with the view from his property and will also negatively impact the price of his oil company stocks.

There are rumors that he will be accused of a scandal of a sexual nature if he does not agree to step down following his current term.

Is there truth in this?

There is no law that says he has to step down as a senator for any reason; if found guilty of an offense he can be publicly censured, but the Senate has no limitations as far as how many terms one senator can serve. There have been many that have served for over 40 and 50 years…not a bad accomplishment, considering Senate terms are six years each.
