how to prepare for big wind storm?
there’s about 7 inches of snow out on the ground, temperatures are in the teens-low twenties, 40-60 MPH constant winds and gusts up to 70-90 MPH.
The news is saying expect to lose power and “spend the day preparing”. a couple years ago my area was out of power for a week, some up to 9 or 10 days. so we want to be prepared. what can we do?
by the way we have a gas fireplace downstairs and a gas stove upstairs. we have one room with no windows (not the one with the fireplace..) so should we sleep in there for the night? thanks for any suggestions.
now they’re saying we will get up to a foot more of snow….
those winds (40-50 MPH constant and 70-90 MPH gusts) are expected for tonight, they havent happened yet
just make sure no stuff is loose outside that might blow around and cause damage. make sure you have enough food, water and fuel for the possibility of power cuts, and also make sure you keep ventilated (just a little is ok but people in these situations tend to lock themselves and their gas stoves in the same air supply…)
