wind power question? c details?

Understanding that the best power in the form of wind is available at higher altitudes one must accept mounting something high in the air is expensive. If one must build a fence anyway then lowering the intial cost is a relevant factor. I know there is wind down here at 6 feet off the ground cuz I have felt it. So I ask again is there a shape that is more effecient than other shapes at funneling the wind energy which would then drive small alternators such as those used by cars. I assume that at some point the compression will cause a back up and the wind would just go over the fence instead of through it. Shapes and methods of calculating the right shapes would be helpful if there is any one out there who understands the question and knows the answer.

The size of the rotor is more important than its height off the ground, although for small installations a tower is useful. Trying to funnel air into the rotor is basically a waste. Since the wind varies, and the output voltage of a generator or alternator is proportional to the rotor speed, sophisticated control electronics are needed in any practical installation. Commercial vendors of this stuff exist, but they are not cheap; the primary use of such equipment is where you are far off grid and the cost of stringing power lines is prohibitive.
